Publication Ethics & Frequencies

Publication Ethics & Publication Frequency

Publication ethics are important in the academic and research world. The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) organization has played a significant role in developing guidelines and standards for publication ethics. The following is a narrative on publication ethics that refers to COPE:

Publication ethics are the principles and values that govern the practice and behavior of researchers in reporting and publishing the results of their research. COPE, an international organization dedicated to developing publication integrity, has developed guidelines that outline the ethical standards expected of researchers and publishers.

One of the key principles emphasized by COPE is honesty in reporting. Researchers are expected to present their research results accurately and transparently. Data should be presented honestly without manipulation or inappropriate editing (e.g., data manipulation, inappropriate citation, data fabrication, and data falsification). If there are errors or mistakes in future publications, the authors are expected to immediately notify the publisher or we can revise or take steps to withdraw the publication.

In addition to honesty, we as editors and publishers also emphasize the importance of integrity in publication. This involves respecting the copyrights and intellectual property of others, as well as avoiding plagiarism (In this case the tolerance limit for plagiarism is < 20% . Researchers are expected to properly cite relevant sources and give due recognition to other contributors who contributed to the research or publication.

Furthermore, COPE emphasizes the importance of ethical collaboration and cooperation in publications; where we certainly do not expect fake collaborations that are just inserting authors. Therefore, we expect authors to complete the authorship statement on the website: https://www.mediafire.com/file/zd9hc8w2t003f0x/Author_Assignment_Letter.docx/file  . If the research involves collaboration with others, authors are expected to ensure that all appropriate contributors are properly acknowledged in the publication. This also means that researchers should not attempt to publish the same research in multiple journals simultaneously or submit the same research to multiple publishers.

In addition, we encourage fair and non-discriminatory publication practices. Research should be judged on its scientific quality and not on factors such as race, gender or institutional affiliation. We also avoid policies that limit access to geographically or financially relevant research, and encourage open access to research through open publication.

Publication Frequency: Two issues a year

Peer Review Process:

Authors submits article

At this stage, authors submit articles through our journal portal on the Online Journal System platform on the online submission menu. Authors fill in every provision in the metadata filling process, such as Title, Abstract, Keywords, and references. Author name consists of First Name, Middle Name, and Lastname. As a note on filling in the name; if the author's name consists of a single syllable, then the first name must be filled with the initials of the author's first letter and then filled in using the original name (Example: Aditya, then write A. as the first name and Aditya as the last name) so that the manuscript is written A Aditya. On the rules of our journal. We do not allow words with single syllables to be repeated (example: Aditya Aditya). This we do not allow. Although in, some journals allow repetition of writing for a name with a single syllable. However, we follow international rules on the author's name and writing model with single syllables. The part that is no less important for the author is that references refer to reputable journals such as SCOPUS, WOS, and so on, such as DOAJ. Our request for reference numbers is rigorous, namely a minimum of 25 lists and as far as possible completed by DOI literature references. For more details, the author can read the writing instructions. Our supporting reference issue is very rigid, considering that our primary goal is to be read by global readers and as evidence that the manuscripts we publish refer to credible journals.

Article Assessed by Editor

After the manuscript is submitted to our journal portal, we will review the manuscript in the pre-initial review process with a processing period of about 7-14 working days. Our review process is the suitability of the manuscript with our focus & scope; the percentage of similarity with the provisions is <20% of similarity. Maybe in the future, if we have obtained the accreditation process and quality index (e.g., SCOPUS, WOS), then the regulation on similarity will be even stricter to a maximum of 10%. Furthermore, manuscripts that do not comply with the provisions of focus and scope, similarity, readability, and other matters that we consider urgent, which refer to the quality of the manuscript, and reference references, we will decide to reject by desk decision. Then, if we have declared the manuscript follows all our provisions, we will forward the manuscript to the reviewers.

Sent to Reviewers

The review process by the reviewers uses the double blind reviews method. The form of reviewers' assessment can be seen in our website https://goldenratio.id/index.php/grmapb/ReviewProcedures

Reviews Assessed by Editor

At least two reviewers review the review process; in this process, the editor section will assess the depth of their review. The editor also reserves the right to add review results if deemed necessary. Apart from that, if the results of the review are found that the first reviewer states a manuscript is Accepted, and the second reviewer states Rejected, then the editor can decide whether the manuscript is Major Revision, minor revision, or rejected. Or the editor reserves the right to include another reviewer to review the paper. In this process, the editor has no right to limit the reviewers' authority. The reviewers have the right to comment on the manuscript according to the international writing standards. The authors or reviewers are also not allowed to contact the authors or vice versa to promise anything for the manuscript to be accepted because this is against any form of publication ethics. The editor will pay close attention to the affiliation between editors and reviewers to avoid conflicts of interest.

Further Review Needed?

Suppose some things need to be revised by the authors in their manuscript. In that case, the decision is that the manuscript will be sent back to the authors through the online journal system with all information in the form of reviewers' comments and revisions required. At this stage, the authors have revised their manuscript following the comments of our reviewers and editors. Then the results of the correction will be reviewed by reviewers and editors. This process will be repeated until the manuscript is under or accepted by the terms of publication.

Copyediting / Production

At this stage, we will copyedit the manuscript that has been declared accepted according to the publication template in the Golden Ratio Journal. The copyediting stage of the manuscript is carried out by our copyeditor. The task of the copyeditor, apart from laying out the manuscript, is to publish a Letter of Acceptance and attach it to the copyediting discussion column on our online journal system menu. The managing editor is also tasked with checking the quality of the layout copyediting carried out by the copyeditor as well as signing a Letter of Acceptance before it is sent through the online journal system in PDF form. Authors are also required to fill out and sign the authors statement letter form which contains the roles of each author in the manuscript. Author statement letter can be seen at: https://www.mediafire.com/file/zd9hc8w2t003f0x/Author_Assignment_Letter.docx/file .The copyeditor is also tasked with re-checking the relevance of supporting references, re-checking similarity using turnitin, Ithinticate, plagiarism checker, and readability using Grammarly. Furthermore, if the copyediting process has been declared appropriate, the copyeditor will send the manuscript to the Production Editor section to be completed with Galley, DOI, and the issue of the manuscript will be published. The production editor's job is to make sure the DOI assigned matches the DOI description in the manuscript, ensures that the history of the articles in the received, revised, and accepted sections is correct, and ensure the appropriate page numbering.

Publication

The process of publishing the manuscript after going through the copyediting process takes 5-10 working days by the Production Editor. Furthermore, the Chief Editor or Managing Editor will activate DOI if the manuscript has been published. Moreover, the Chief Editor and Managing Editor will ensure that every published manuscript has been entered in the Google Scholar, Kudos, Scite, Dimension database, and so on as a sign of our dedication to global readers in terms of spreading knowledge and our commitment to the authors so that the manuscript those that have been published have been disseminated.

Ethics, Procedures, Obligations of Editors and Reviewers:

  • In this process, reviewers are expected to carefully examine both the content and context of each manuscript assigned to them.
  • Reviewers are required to fill in the review form and provide comments aimed at improving the quality of the publication.
  • Reviewers are expected not to discriminate against the manuscripts sent to them.
  • As a form of avoiding conflicts of interest between reviewers and authors, we as publishers will enforce blind review of manuscripts.
  • We as publishers are obliged to assign reviewers to review manuscripts that are in accordance with their expertise and expertise.
  • In the manuscript review process, we will send the manuscript to the reviewers in a blind review which will involve 2-7 random reviewers. Where we as editors will also provide the results of our review to the authors.
  • The reviewers are guaranteed independence in giving their decisions.
  • The paper review procedure is carried out by 2 appointed reviewers, if the deadline is determined and there is a reviewer who is unable to review, the editor will assign another additional reviewer to review the paper.
  • The process of paper review and paper revision continues until it is determined that the paper is considered to have met the revision criteria.
  • To minimize the conflict of interest between editors, reviewers, and authors. So we strive to reduce the potential for published manuscripts that predominantly come from the same institution / institution of editors, reviewers. (Until now our policy is a maximum of 20%).

Ethics, Procedures, Obligations of Authors and Editors:

  • Manuscripts are submitted only through the journal submission portal. We do not accept manuscript submissions using email.
  • The correspondence process is 100% using the journal portal in the OJS account.
  • Questions and answers that include further manuscript tracking can contact our contact via email. We will not respond to any contact other than the email listed on the contact page in our OJS menu.
  • Each author must comply with all existing procedures. Including complying with the provisions of revisions, objections to manuscript revisions, etc. that are considered related to this matter.
  • The manuscript withdrawal process will only be carried out a maximum of 60 days from the time the manuscript is submitted. Or if the authors want the withdrawal process even though the manuscript has been reviewed, or copyediting process, the authors will be charged a fee of 100 USD per article. Likewise with the retraction process.
  • There is no manuscript submission fee, nor do we charge a fee for paper review.
  • The LOA submission process will be sent in the discussion section of the copyediting - production menu in the authors' OJS account.
  • During the manuscript submission process, authors are required to submit proof of plagiarism.
  • During the manuscript submission process, authors are required to submit an authors statement letter.
  • We realize that our journal template is very rigid, therefore authors are not obliged to submit their manuscripts according to our template. We accept common manuscript templates (customizable fonts, A4 or letter size), but it is expected that authors do not submit their manuscripts using templates found in other journal attributes. If that happens, we will ask the authors to change it, then re-submit the manuscript.
  • We expect authors to read our author-guidelines carefully. We are very rigid about it. This is so that authors can be careful and thorough and reduce the potential for rejection, and so that the quality standards of our publications are maintained.
  • We strongly expect that submitted manuscripts are manuscripts that have never been published in other journals. Or Salamy-Publication. The editor certainly has the right to unilaterally withdraw the manuscript if in the future unethical actions are found.
  • To protect the supplementary data of each manuscript (Data results, Raw Data, or etc.), editors and reviewers are not allowed to distribute the data without the author's permission.

Copyright Holder

  • The copyright holders of the manuscript are the authors, under the terms of CC-BY-SA. So that all forms contained in the manuscript published are the responsibility of the authors.

Conflict Resolution For Published Manuscript Disputes

Of course we hope that this does not happen, but this possibility can happen, given the high number of irresponsible journals (Cloning Journal, or Predatory Journal) or manuscripts stolen from the original authors. However, as a publisher, we will take several steps in conflict resolution issues:

  • If in the future a lawsuit is found that the published manuscript contains double-publication with different authorship, then we ask for clarification from our author (manuscripts that have been published under his name) to provide information and confirmation. Of course, we will ask for data support and facts related to manuscript ownership.
  • Considering that the copyright holders are the authors, the authors must comply with all legal provisions in the event of a lawsuit.
  • Publishers have the right to withdraw publications that have been published unilaterally without confirmation to the authors, if the lawsuit is carried out by other publishers, or other parties. And the suing party can prove the validity of his publication, or his data/manuscript.
  • The publisher has the right to cancel the publication/review process if there are irregularities in the manuscript submission process, or do not attach an author statement letter.
