Strategies for Resolving Problems Related to the Rights and Obligations of Husbands and Wives in Realizing a Sakinah, Mawaddah wa Rahmah Family

Abstract
Family is the smallest social unit that plays a fundamental role in shaping a harmonious society. In the Islamic perspective, the ideal family is known through the concept of sakinah, mawaddah wa rahmah, namely a family grounded in tranquility, love, and affection. However, in the practice of household life, various problems often arise, particularly those related to the fulfillment of the rights and obligations between husband and wife. This study aims to analyze the problems concerning the rights and obligations of husband and wife and to formulate strategies for resolving them in order to realize a sakinah mawaddah wa rahmah family. This research uses a qualitative method with a library research approach through analysis of the Qur'an, Hadith, fiqh books, and Islamic family law literature. The results show that household problems generally stem from weak communication, lack of religious understanding, imbalance of roles, and economic factors. The resolution strategies include strengthening religious values, effective communication, deliberation, fair division of roles, and family counseling. The implementation of these strategies can strengthen the relationship between husband and wife in building a harmonious and sustainable family.
